Diary Of A Dubai Girl: Fun things to do in October

I’m so pleased to be talking plans for October, the weather is finally becoming bearable, and I’ll be getting back outside at every opportunity…yippee!

As a family, we love to load the cool box and hit the beach at the weekend and Black Palace Beach (the one next to the Burj) is one of our favourite spots, we like it here because it’s low key compared to some of the other built-up beach fronts.

Here’s a few of the other fun things I’ll be doing in October.  Emily xxx

New Brunch, Seagrill Bistro at Fairmont The Palm

Who doesn’t love brunch?  A chic new Friday brunch has been launched at Seagrill Bistro, and I’m heading there to check it out on the 5th of October.  The menu promises Mediterranean signature dishes and drinks, I’ve eaten dinner here and as a big seafood fan, I’m really looking forward to going back and trying more.

Ghost at Dubai Opera

Ghost The Musical

The 90’s iconic movie Ghost is up there on my top ten classic films, I was super excited to find out the stage adaptation was coming to Dubai Opera in October.  The story is about loved up couple Molly and Sam, (played by the late Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore in the film) who’s love affair is tragically ended when Sam gets murdered.  Bring along a box of tissues girls this is a real tear jerker!

9th – 13th October

Laguna Waterpark Dubai

Laguna Waterpark

It’s my sons birthday and we’ve finally gone past the age of big parties with cake and party bags, so we’ve decided to take a couple of his best friends to Laguna Waterpark for a day of splashing fun!  I know Dubai has a lot of great waterparks but with a reasonable entry price and location at La Mer it’s one of our favourites.  The boys love Laguna because you can pop between beach and waterpark as you like and there’s a cute ice cream parlour on the boardwalk where we always stop by on the way home!

Book online to get residents special offer of AED99

Afternoon Tea at The Palace Downtown

Afternoon Tea At The Palace

Afternoon Tea in Dubai is a real treat and the perfect way to catch up with girlfriends, I’m off to The Palace, Downtown to munch my way through their selection of mini bites, delicate sweets and scones.  Served in the opulent Al Bayt lobby, the tea selection is huge here and I always try to be adventurous and sample different varieties.  If you go on a weekend they serve the afternoon tea buffet style or if you prefer the traditional stand served to the table go mid-week.

AED 170 and the bonus is it’s 2-4-1 on the Fine Dine Entertainer!

I've been living in Dubai for five years with my husband and two boys, packing up our stuff we made the move from our beautiful hometown in Cornwall, UK. I have an extensive background in travel and tourism which has led me to be the co-founder of SheDXB, and I hope to make life in the sandpit that little bit easier to navigate. After a hectic week, you'll find us enjoying lazy family days on Black Palace Beach! Emily x
